During the bi-annual winter season of international sports excellence, millions of viewers glue themselves to TV screens  everywhere to see their favorite athletes vie for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. The athletes only make it to the Winners’ Podium by stretching themselves to the fullest, often against nearly impossible odds.  Entire nations jealously count and compare their own champions’ medal wins.

A similar experience faces Mentoring Teams:  the ultimate goal of a powerful mentoring partnership is to help mentees achieve greatness–by steadily committing themselves to becoming as good as they can be and better than they have ever been.

Mentees need to set their sights on goals that EXCITE them AND scare them!

Michelangelo stated this Olympian task well:

“The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it,

but that it is too low and we reach it.”
