FALLING LEAVES

fall19What happens when the “honeymoon” of your mentoring relationship feels like the falling leaves–or makes you feel like you’re drifting in the wind? Can you “re-attach” or should you just let go?  Here are some “crunch time’ tips:

—If you want to keep the relationship, pick up the phone and make a date for face-to-face time.

—Before you end it, be honest with each other about what your conversation accomplished or did not.

—Value candor: compare impressions about how you are doing with each other.

—Going forward, KEEP your calendar appointments.

—If you “fall off the tree” BE GRATEFUL for any time and attention you have been given and SAY SO.  You’d be surprised how that can matter in another season of your life.
